Terms and Conditions of Service

 

 

 

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions explain how our services work and outline the responsibilities of both parties. “You” or “Customer” refers to the person booking our services. “We”, “us” or “our” refers to Shift Xpress Logistics Ltd.

By confirming a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions. Our aim is to provide a smooth, professional and stress-free moving experience with full transparency.

2. Definitions

Goods / Items refer to all property handled, moved or stored by us, including boxes, cartons, furniture, appliances and personal belongings.

An Item means either the entire contents of one box or container, or a single object handled by us.

3. Our Quotation

All quotations are based on the information provided by the Customer at the time of booking and include standard removal liability unless stated otherwise.

Quotations exclude customs duties, government fees, parking charges, parking fines or third-party costs unless agreed.

Prices may change if access, parking, carry distance, stairs, lift availability, working hours or item quantities differ from what was advised.

4. Work Not Included

  • Assembly or disassembly of new flat-pack furniture

  • Disassembly or reassembly of any furniture that cannot be safely dismantled without forcing, altering, or modifying it
    (we will only dismantle and reassemble existing furniture where this can be done safely and as designed by the manufacturer)

  • Disconnecting or reconnecting gas, electricity, or water supplies

  • Removing, installing, or altering floor coverings

  • Modifying doors, windows, or any other structural or permanently fixed elements of the property

  • Drilling, fixing, mounting, or attaching items to walls or ceilings

5. Customer Responsibilities

  • ensure items are ready, packed and accessible
  • empty, defrost and clean fridges and freezers
  • provide accurate access, stair, lift and parking information
  • ensure lifts are operational where applicable
  • separate and remove valuables, documents and keys
  • inform us of damaged or fragile items in advance

6. Items Not Accepted

  • hazardous or flammable goods
  • cash, jewellery, watches, keys, deeds or securities
  • passports or legal documents
  • perishable or contaminated items
  • animals or plants
  • goods requiring controlled environments

7. Payment Terms

A 30% deposit is required to confirm your booking. The remaining 70% balance must be paid before unloading begins. Our crew will not unload goods until payment is received in full.

8. Waiting Time

No waiting charges apply before 1:00 PM. After this time:

  • £50 per hour per vehicle within the M25
  • £70 per hour per vehicle outside the M25

9. Parking & Access

Parking must be legal, within 20 metres of the entrance and not across a public road. Any parking fines incurred during loading or unloading will be added to the final balance.

If parking is not secured, an advance parking charge of £80 per vehicle per property may apply and will be refunded within 4 weeks if unused.

10. Long Carry Distance

The quotation includes up to 20 metres carry distance. Beyond this, £10 per crew member per additional 10 metres (or part thereof) applies.

11. Stairs & Lift Access

Prices assume a working lift. If a lift cannot be used, no charge applies for the first floor. From level 2 upwards, £25 per crew member per floor applies.

12. Loft Items

Items removed from lofts will not be placed back into lofts at the delivery property and will be placed in the nearest accessible room.

13. Utilities & Appliances

We do not work with gas, electricity or water supplies. Appliance disconnection and reconnection is the Customer’s responsibility. Assistance is at the Customer’s risk only.

14. Flat-Pack Furniture & Unpacking

Flat-pack assembly and unpacking of boxes are not included and are charged separately at an agreed hourly rate.

15. Valuables, Documents & Keys

We do not accept responsibility for valuables, documents or keys. These must be transported separately. Customers must carefully check all packing materials during unpacking.

16. Pre-Existing Damage

Items already damaged or weakened will be handled with care, but we cannot accept liability for unavoidable damage due to their condition.

17. Restricted Access & Oversized Items

We do not force items or modify structures. Forced placement is only done with written email consent, and all damage is accepted by the Customer.

18. Condition Records

Photos or videos may be taken of items and property before work begins for evidential and insurance purposes.

19. Liability

Liability is limited to Goods in Transit insurance, currently up to £10,000 per vehicle.

20. Exclusions

We are not liable for wear and tear, pre-existing damage, sentimental value, indirect or consequential losses.

21. Claims

Claims must be reported at delivery or within 5 days in writing.

22. Storage

Stored goods are not insured unless agreed in writing. Storage charges are payable in advance.

23. Lien

We reserve the right to retain goods until all charges are paid in full.

24. Disputes

Disputes may be referred to arbitration by mutual agreement.

25. Force Majeure

We are not liable for events beyond our reasonable control.

26. Subcontracting

We may use trusted subcontractors. These Terms remain fully applicable.

27. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

28. Acknowledgement

By confirming a booking, the Customer confirms acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
